FIRE ON GARMENTS
FACTORY

Fire accident is an
unexpected (AcªZ¨vwkZ) incident. It destroys our valuable
wealth even our lives.
A devastating (fqven) fire gutted (aŸsm K‡iwQj) Hamim Garments, a large readymade garments factory, at Savar at about 5
a.m. The fire was supposed (m¤¢eZ) to be caused from the sudden
outbreak (Qwo‡q cov) of fire from electric short circuit.
Smoke engulfed (‡auvqvq Av”Qbœ) the whole 9 storied building as a
result of which people inside the building could not come out in spite of their
best efforts. The Fire Brigade and civil defence rushed to the spot immediately
to extinguish fire (Av¸b wbfv‡bv). After working about 5hours they
were able to extinguish fire.
According to factory sources, readymade garments of about 2 core taka,
550 Sewing machines (‡mjvB †gwkb) and almost all the burnable inside
the factory burnt to ashes.
The authorities claimed (KZ„c‡ÿi `vwe)
that the fire totally damaged the electric wiring system of the factory. They
also claimed that valuables worth Tk- 3 crore were gutted in the fire.
